Beer Can Island : Longboat Key
This is the spot where the locals of Manatee and Sarasota Counties come together to frolic and party! An island oasis known by locals as Beer Can Island, others call it Greer Island Park. We call it awesome! At the southern tip of Longboat Key is this little island, with its beautiful sand and water. Everyone driving over to Longboat Key sees Beer Can Island, however it has very limited access and only boaters really make use of it. It has a wonderful and pristine beach that is perched right there at the center point to the Gulf and Intercoastal Waterway. Hanging out, relaxing, and meeting the other boaters that anchored up, was one of our best boating days ever!

This is the southern of Longboat, however on the northern end is another wonderful park to launch your boat, at Sarasota's Ken Thompson Park.

While plenty of beer, wine, and cold drinks were consumed during our visit, Florida boaters take big care of the environment.

Needless to say, the local real estate is tough and expensive to come by. However, the boat ramps are free for all!

What the heck is that thing?

You can launch your boat at the coquina beach boat ramps which are located on the north side of the causeway bridge.
